Less than 24 hours after being named to the 53 man roster, backup quarterback AJ Feeley is being released. The move is pending the announcement of a waiver acquisition by the Birds. Speculation is swirling that the Birds have claimed Cardinals tight end Leonard Pope or Titan linebacker Ryan Fowler who the team unsuccessfully tired to sign away as a restricted free agent before last season. Also, Alex Smith the tight end who WIP’s Anthony Gargano said the Birds were interested in earlier this week was released by the Pats. He is a possibility to be added aswell.
Don’t shed a tear for Feeley, there are many teams in need of a quality backup. Expect the Packers, Skins, Rams and Pats to be interested. He wont be out of work for long. My guess is he signs in Green Bay, just a hunch though being that he’s a vet in the west coast offense.
