Charlie Manuel has given Brad Lidge a lot of rope this season to retain his closer job. Tonight versus the lowly Nationals, Brad Lidge hung himself with all that slack. After a single, a hit batter, a wild pitch, another walk Manuel pulled him with the bases loaded and tying run at second base for setup man Ryan Madson.
Ryan came out throwing fire and got all-star Ryan Zimmerman swinging and slugger Adam Dunn to chop into the lefty overshift.
The direction of this season changed in a big way tonight. The decision by Manuel to remove Lidge cannot be overstated. Is Madson the guy? Is it Myers? Do they blame the newly acquired blister, and put Lidge back into the role? What do you think?
