At the press conference announcing Mike Vick’s signing, Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie stated that the convicted felon would be a very active member of the community and that he would use his infamy to try and create some good out of his horrendous situation. Today Vick took his first steps in that direction at the Nueva Esparanza Academy in the Hunting Park section of North Philadelphia.
Vick spoke for about 10 minutes to the incoming freshman without any prepared remarks. He spoke about his childhood and the wrong decisions that led him to his criminal activity in adulthood. He ended his speech with…
“it’s easy to do wrong things, but hard to do the right things. Use me as an example.”
The event was put together by the Eagles, no animal rights groups were involved in the organization.
