The Flyers faceoff tonight against Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals, in their home opener.
The Flyers stand at 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 98-99, and for the first time in their franchise history are 2-0 with both of those wins coming on the road to open the year.
The key to the early success has clearly been the defense. With Kimmo Timonen and Chris Pronger nullifying the oppositons’s top lines, and goaltender Ray Emery playing as well as anyone could have hoped, their has been very little to complain about in the first two outings.
This week will tell us more about the boys in black and orange, with Washington here tonight, Pittsburgh in Philly on Thursday and Chris Pronger’s old Anaheim Duck teammates coming to town Saturday evening.
